Carbone Takes Race Two Pole at Lime Rock

July 24, 2010
Carbone took a solid Lime Rock pole

Lakeville, CT –In a qualifying session that saw a rapidly drying Lime Rock race track, championship points leader Victor Carbone took pole in dominating fashion for the second F2000 Championship Series race of the weekend, scheduled for 5:15pm tomorrow afternoon. The 30-minute session saw times tumble as a dry line emerged following a day of moderate rain showers at the Connecticut race track.  Carbone was on the top of the charts most of the session and his Alegra Motorsports teammate, Fabio Orsolon will line up next to him.

Carbone, who has four wins in eight races so far this year, will start from pole and grabs three more points to increase his national championship lead over Cole Morgan, who will start 12th.

Serralles has been the talk of the paddock this weekend.

Felix Serralles, driving his first F2000 event for GTP Motorsports continued to impress. The Puerto Rican is coming out of the Skip Barber Series and in his first day in an F2000 car, was fourth in morning practice, qualified 10th for race one and backed that up for race two by qualifying third.

Phil Lombardi will line up fourth – the fastest Masters Class driver. Chris Livengood rounded out the top five.

Orsolon will make it two second positions, as he also qualified second for the first race of the weekend in heavy rain earlier today.

Many eyes were on super-fast Australian rookie Daniel Erickson, who inherited pole for the first race of the weekend earlier today. Erickson has a solid qualifying record in 2010, coming into the session with four poles in five tries, but he couldn’t make it five for six as the Primus Racing/Quantum Mechanics squad battled engine issues. Erickson will have come from 14th tomorrow afternoon.

Tom Fatur, Tim Minor, Jeff McCusker, Jonathan Scarallo and Stevan McAleer completed positions sixth through ten.

The F2000 action continues tomorrow, Saturday, July 24 with both races. The green flag drops on race one at approximately 10:30am, race two follows at 5:15pm.
