Burkett Lays Down a 1:16 Flat for Pole

Burkett had set a new track qualifying record on Saturday, and set an even faster time today. The new track qualifying record set by Burkett is an impressive 1:16.0 at the 12-turn road course.

Keeping consistent with the qualifying session for race one, Jimmy Simpson, driving for Atlantic Creations, was also under the previous track qualifying record and will start on the outside of the front row.

K-Hill Motorsports’ has another driver starting in the top five for race two, after having three of their Atlantic cars finish in the top five in race one on Saturday. Conner Kearby, was able to place a head of his father and will be starting third.

Keith Grant, driving a Polestar Racing Group prepped Atlantic, will be starting fourth after a top three finish on Sunday. Rounding out the top five is Ethan Ringel, who did not finish yesterday’s race due to mechanical issues.

Gaston Kearby, Matt Miller, Michael Mallinen, Richard Zober and Bob Corliss completed the top ten for the second race of the weekend at Road Atlanta, and the second round of the 2014, 10-race season.

Race two starts at 4:0pm eastern.
