Audette Racing Sets 2010 Program
Montreal, Quebec – Remy Audette and Audette Racing announced today their 2010 F2000 Championship Series program for the #21 Dimension Doors Van Diemen/Zetec. The Canadian will be contesting his third season in the series, after taking a sole victory at Lime Rock Park, multiple poles, and setting numerous lap records en route to a third place finish in the standings last year. In 2008, Audette finished ninth in the standings having run just four out of seven weekends.
“Right now the plan is to improve upon last year,” explained Audette. “We want to lower our track records, and as of today we’re not planning on running the full schedule, so we may try to win the championship on a partial season.”
As far as building upon a great 2009, Audette continued, “one of the big things we need to improve upon is our performance at Mosport. It’s my home track, and this year we’ll be working with engineer David Clubine for all the events, and he knows Mosport very well.”
Audette Racing returns for a third straight season, and the team also has fielded Formula Ford 1600 and Canadian Touring Car programs.
Commenting on the F2000 Championship Series, Audette said: “It’s a very tight series, and the racing is very competitive and everything is close. The rules are straightforward and above all, everyone in the series is great and it’s really fun to race with the F2000 guys.”
Audette added that he has spent most of his free time in the off-season snowmobiling and that he was “just excited to get into the car again.”
Additionally, Audette has unfinished business in Montreal for the Formula Ford 1600 race this coming summer. Last year, he was leading by four seconds with six laps to go when a problem with the float in the carburetor ended his race.
Perhaps one of the best untold tales of the 2009 season was the wigs that were stolen from Audette Racing at Mosport. After sporting what can only be described as “very stylish” hair pieces in the pits during the Mosport race weekend, an assortment of wigs disappeared from the Audette Racing transporter. Ransom notes were delivered to Audette Racing at Watkins Glen, and two weeks later at Summit Point, the official scale pads for the F2000 Series tech area mysteriously vanished. Series officials had to act fast to remedy the situation, and a few weeks later at Mid-Ohio, the dispute was calmly settled with multiple witnesses in view, with F2000 Series officials receiving their scale pads back, and Audette Racing joyously taking possession of their wig assortment.
Sources familiar with the situation said Audette Racing will bring back the wigs in 2010.
The 14-race, seven-weekend 2010 F2000 Championship Series gets going on April 9 at VIR, followed by Road Atlanta in May and Mosport in June. Then it’s Watkins Glen with IndyCar and Lime Rock with ALMS in July before Road America in August and the season finale at Mid-Ohio over Labor Day. The F2000 Series posted the highest average car count on the open wheel development landscape in 2008 and 2009 with an average of 30 entries per race.
