Team Pelfrey is proud to confirm that third-generation racer Andrew Hobbs will complete its four-car lineup in this year’s F1600 Championship Series. Hobbs, 20, from Milwaukee, Wis., will drive the #83 Team Pelfrey/Pulse/Master Tech/David Hobbs Honda Mygale-Honda alongside Rob Megennis and Ben Auriemma when the 21-race series begins with a triple-header event at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga., on April 10-12, while Jordan Cane will join the fray a little later in the season at Virginia International Raceway after reaching his 14th birthday. Team Pelfrey earned a 1-2-3 sweep in the 2014 title-chase.

Hobbs’ grandfather, David, enjoyed a storied career behind the wheel before enhancing his reputation still further as a television pundit. His father, Gregory, enjoyed some success in the Skip Barber Pro Series before concentrating on his family and its successful car dealership, David Hobbs Honda based in Glendale, Wis.

Andrew himself has enjoyed multiple successes in karting and the Skip Barber Racing Series. Last year he broadened his horizons by competing in a partial season of Formula Ford in New Zealand, where he secured three podium finishes, before displaying good form during his rookie campaign in the F1600 Championship Series. Highlights included a sequence of six top-10 finishes and a best result of fifth at the Pittsburgh International Race Complex.

“I am extremely happy and excited to announce that I will be racing with Team Pelfrey this year,” said Hobbs. “I couldn’t ask for a better team to come back to the F1600 championship with. I’m excited to represent Pulse, Master Tech and David Hobbs Honda, and looking forward to building from what I learned last year and making a serious push for the championship in 2015.”

Following a strong test with the team last week in Florida, Hobbs will become further acclimated with the team and the car with another early test next week in preparation for the opening races of the season on the demanding 2.54-mile, 12-turn Road Atlanta circuit.

“We are very excited to be able to finalize our 2015 driver line-up with the addition of Andrew,” said Team Pelfrey team manager Nigel Tuckey. “He tested with us last year and we always kept an eye on him during his rookie campaign last season where he impressed us on numerous occasions.  With a year’s experience under his belt, we are very excited about his prospects for the season.”
