“Teams and competitors travel to Lexington, Ohio this weekend”

July 1, 2020 – From no racing for several months to two event weekends in the past three weeks, Formula Race Promotions is back on track in a just few short days. Taking on the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course inLexington, Ohio, F1600, F2000, F1000 and Formula Vee / RCFFS drivers will be back on one of North America’s premier motorsports facilities.

“Nothing like starting the season with a bang and a couple events within a few weeks,” explained FRP Co-Owner Bob Wright. “It was great to see the smiling faces of our track family, and we can’t wait to get back on track again this weekend.”

As several drivers swept the weekend at the PittsburghInternational Race Complex, their rivals will be looking to put the brakes on their momentum as the second event weekend goes green. With a test day onFriday providing increased track time, teams and competitors will have several opportunities to get up to speed as the 2020 season rounds turn two.

Heading to Mid-Ohio, Simon Sikes leads the F1600 point standings over Jonathan Kotyk by 18 markers while Max Esterson sits third.Multi-time F2000 champion Brandon Dixon is ahead of the rest of his competitors courtesy of his double weekend win at Pitt Race. Nick Palacio sits second in the overall standings, just ahead of multi-time karting champion Luca Mars.Phil Kingham is the leader of the Formula Vee (RCFFS) program courtesy of his three wins to start the season while Tim Pierce and Alex Mayer split the F1000wins at the opening round and will look to carry their successes into Ohio.

Wright added, “We will be operating under Covid-19 guidelines again in Mid-Ohio. Our staff and competitors did a great job adhering to the rules in Pittsburgh, and I am expecting nothing less in Ohio. The on-track action was some of the best that we have seen in our series, and we saw new and returning drivers to the FRP program. We will continue to evolve and shape the program to attract as many new racers as possible and look forward to the rest of 2020 and onwards into 2021.”
