The FRP iRacing Challenge Presented by Hoosier Tire Closes Tomorrow at VIR as the Series Heads Back to Real Racing in Less Than a Month

May 27, 2020

“Zachary Rivard leads contingent to VIR”

After a pole position, double race win and maximum point effort last week at the famed Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, Zachary Rivard is atop the point standings as the series heads to VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) Thursday evening for the final rounds of the FRP iRacing Challenge Presented by Hoosier Tire.

“Virtual Racing has become a thing of life for teams, drivers and series in the past few months, but we are happy to conclude our second series this week and shift our focus to our first real life event of 2020,” expressed FRP’s Bob Wright. “We have had incredible racing online and look forward to having that shift to the racetrack. No more net codes, digital courage or resets, it’s all about to get real again and we can’t wait.”

With championship prizes on the line, Rivard leads round one winner Justin Hille by a mere six markers as Dan Clarke and Burton August are separated by only one point for third and fourth. Rivard and Hille are the two in the driver’s seat for the Series II title and either one could be the victor based on the results tomorrow evening.

While several drivers are mathematically eligible for the championship, Rivard, Hille, Clarke and August are trailed by Mac Clark and Colin Mullan. As the top-six drivers are represented by four teams and sit only twenty-seven points apart, it is anyone’s championship.

TheFRP iRacing Challenge Presented by Hoosier Tires Series II will be decided bythe total of driver’s best race results from all six races including all bonus points earned.
